Alex McFarland, Josh McDowell and Mark Mittelberg Join to Minister to Military Families During Free Weekend Event May 3-5
GREENSBORO, N.C.—Families of all stages of life experience adversity, conflict and tough times, but young people and military families especially can face unique challenges.
At an upcoming special three-day event, Dr. Alex McFarland’s Truth for a New Generation (TNG) ministry will reach out to these young people and military families at the “Unashamed” Conference near Fort Bragg and Fayetteville, North Carolina.
The Greater Fayetteville Truth for a New Generation event is set for May 3-5 at RockFish Church, 9949 Fayetteville Road in Raeford, and will feature McFarland, Josh McDowell and Mark Mittelberg.
“Traveling to several different cities each month, I meet thousands of families and young people, and their challenges are sometimes heart-breaking,” McFarland said. “We hope that this Truth for a New Generation event near Fayetteville will help edify and strengthen military families. For all families, we know there is only one direction—the path that leads to Jesus Christ and His plan for their lives. Through Truth for a New Generation Ministries, we want to point families, young people and communities to the future God has laid out for them.”

Josh McDowell has been at the forefront of cultural trends and groundbreaking ministry for more than 50 years. His ministry serves and equips the body of Christ in raising generations of Christians who know what they believe, why it is true and how to live it out. He has his finger on the pulse of the most pressing issues facing Christians.
A trailblazer for truth and relationships, McDowell shares the essentials of the Christian faith in everyday language so that youth, families, churches, leaders and individuals of all ages are prepared for the life of faith and the work of the ministry. Since 1961, McDowell has delivered more than 27,000 talks to over 25 million people in 125 countries. He has written or co-authored 148 books, including “More Than a Carpenter” (27 million copies have been distributed) and “New Evidence That Demands a Verdict,” recognized by World Magazine as one of the top 40 books of the 20th century and one of the 13 most influential books of the last 50 years on Christian thought.
Mark Mittelberg is a bestselling author, international speaker and leading strategist in evangelism. His published materials include the newly-released “Making Your Case for Christ” training course and the devotional “The Case for Christ: Daily Moment of Truth” (both with Lee Strobel), as well as many other resources and training materials. He was also an editorial consultant and periodic guest for Strobel’s television show, “Faith Under Fire,” and the two have been ministry partners for more than 30 years.
After receiving an undergraduate degree in business, Mittelberg earned a master’s degree in Philosophy of Religion from Trinity International University, and also received an honorary Doctor of Divinity degree from Southern Evangelical Seminary in Charlotte.
For more than two decades, McFarland, a religion and culture expert, national radio host and author, has had the goal through Truth for a New Generation to help Christians, especially young believers, know how to talk about their faith in Christ and share it with others, particularly in a culture where more and more young people are abandoning their beliefs, leaving church behind or even adopting atheist views.
McFarland says there is only one place to look for truth—through the Bible and Jesus Christ. This year, Truth for a New Generation will present several apologetics conferences geared toward students, parents, youth pastors, families and community members.
The TNG Fayetteville event comes on the heels of the National Day of Prayer on May 2. For 2019, McFarland has been named the National Student Movement Director and will work to mobilize students in every state to commit to unifying in prayer with their peers.
